I fell in love with the Vtech Star Wars Camera watch at Toy Fair in January and I knew it would be perfect for Alison. Not only is Alison a huge Star Wars fan but she also loves her technology and has been desperate to get her own smart watch for a while. The Vtech Star Wars Camera watch comes in two designs – Stormtrooper or BB-8. We were sent the BB-8 version to put to the test.
Inside the box you get the camera watch and a USB cable as well as a user manual. The watch features two buttons – home and shutter and has a touch screen. It has 256 MB of built-in memory which can store around 1600 photos or 11 minutes of video at 320 x 240 pixels. The USB cable is used to charge the battery and also to transfer images to your PC from the camera watch.
The watch display can use a 3D effect on some of the clock styles. You can turn this off in the settings but we loved it. There are over 30 different Star Wars digital or analogue watch faces to choose from and Alison really liked this feature as I am always changing the background on my smart watch.
The watch has lots of different features that are useful and fun including a calendar, calculator, pedometer, alarm , stop watch and voice recorder.
The alarm function is particularly useful if your child is a little bit lazy in the mornings. We found that by allowing her to set her own alarm she was more likely to get out of bed than when we were trying to wake her.
The Vtech Camera Watch comes with three Star Wars themed games which are lots of fun and a little bit addictive.
You can also create sound effects using the motion sensor such as Rey’s lightsaber which gets the kids active. The pedometer challenges are also a great way to get them moving.
With the fun of a normal camera watch and the added Star Wars features this watch is absolutely brilliant and something that Alison has really enjoyed playing with over the last month. We definitely recommend this to all young Star Wars fans who want some child friendly technology.
I haven’t seen this before but it looks fantastic, my daughter has the kidizoom camera she loves xXx
