Family Friendly Food – Harvester Restaurants New Menu

I have always enjoyed eatng at the Harvester restaurant, something about all ou can eat salad gets me every time and when I was younger it was our family restaurant of choice for special occasions. Last weekend we got invited to experience the new menu at one of the newly refurbished restaurants and I was very excited to see what had changed and experience the new and improved salad bar.
The Salad Bar really has improved with Olives, Pickled Onions and Gherkins making an appearance as well as some new flavours of pasta salad and more. Both of my girls absolutely love salad especially olives so having those on the salad bar got a thumbs up from them.
As part of the new menu there are some new tapas type starters which was great for the four adults that were with us as it meant we got to try a variety of items. They were all delicious but the Halloumi skewers and spicy crackerjack prawns were my favourite. We also tried the Grilled Chorizo with Padron peppers and the pepper-crumb fried chicken strips. To accompany this we had the cheese garlic bread board with guacamole, crispy lightly spiced cauliflower, sour cream and tomato salsa. This was great for us as a family as the kids loved it too!
Testing out the new dishes on the main course menu was a hard job, mainly because they all sounded delicious but between us we ordered the Chicken and Chorizo skewers with dirty rice, the half aromatic boneless duck with sweet potato fries,  Nacho Burger and the BBQ Chicken Stack. All the food was delicious and filling but I wish that my duck had just been served on a regular plate and the addition of the banana leaf on the plates is a complete waste of time and money in my opinion. I am definitely of the opinion that you dont need to fuss around displaying food in cups and on special plates and as long as it tastes great that is all that matters.
After stuffing our faces with the unlimited salad bar, sharing starters and huge portions of main course we struggled to order pudding but I take my research very seriously so felt that I had to atleast try some of the new puddings. Unfortunately, not all of my guests were up to the challenge but we did manage to sample the kids make your own sundae, the New York Baked Cheesecake and the Eton Mess Sundae. I loved the Eton Mess Sundae but it beat me and I had to give the rest to my little brother who is like a dustbin!
We had a great meal at the Harvester and I can’t wait for my nearest one to get the refurbishment and upgrade to its salad bar so we can go and enjoy eating there even more.
