This morning I woke up to something I have come to dread. Elizabeth was absolutely roasting and was running a temperature of 39.6.
A dose of calpol and into the hospital we went with enough stuff for a 48 hour stay but there was something I had forgotten.
Elizabeth doesn’t have a wiggle anymore, that changes everything. A quick blood count and her neutrophils are lovely and high. The doctor listened to her chest, checked her mouth and ears and sent us on our way. She has a common cold. This time last month that common cold would have landed us in hospital for at least 48 hours.
I love being back to normal where a cold is just a cold and you take some medicines, have a nap and get on with your life.
Unfortunately the trip to the hospital meant our plans to see Justin and Friends on stage in Birmingham had to be cancelled but at least I get to sleep in my own bed tonight.
