For day five of the Popchips challenge we decided that a girly day out shopping followed by an afternoon tea was what was in order. I had heard that The Brasserie at the Mercure Manchester Hotel had just started to offer an afternoon tea and with it being based in the city centre and with fabulous views of Piccadilly gardens it was the ideal place to rest and recuperate after all of our Christmas shopping.
Now I am still on a diet so afternoon tea is full of temptation so I decided to enjoy my Popchips before the food came out to help prevent me from eating all of the cakes.
The girls absolutely love joining me for afternoon tea and they love being grown up and drinking tea and eating finger sandwiches. The sandwiches at the Brasserie were fresh and delicious and came with lots of salad which we all picked at too.
The cakes not only looked amazing but were fresh, light and full of flavour and we all really enjoyed trying the different varieties. I loved the meringue full of cream and berries.
As more tea was delivered we tackled the scones where I was once again confused by which way we should eat a scone. Is it cream first or jam first? It seemed that social media couldn’t agree either.
Our Afternoon tea at The Brasserie at the Mercure Manchester Hotel was a fabulous retreat from the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping and an experience we would definitely repeat with the delicious food, fantastic venue and beautiful view that made the whole thing so relaxing. Both girls really enjoyed themselves and we left full and happy.
