When I looked at my itinerary for our tour around the Loire Valley what struck me most was the variety of accommodation on offer. Over the four nights, we were going to be staying in a small hotel in the town of Saumur, a chateau in Onzain, a large chain hotel in Angers and most unusual of all we would be staying at Domaine De La Roche Belin. The Domaine de la Roche Belin has lots of alternative accommodation available that can help make a holiday extra special.
The Domaine de la Roche Belin was like a fantasy world of some of the most unusual accommodation choices I have ever seen. From Romanian Caravans to Yurts to Treehouses and the Hobbit Holes, there really was something suitable for everyone.
I was lucky enough to stay in the family sized Hobbit Hole which I know Alison would have absolutely loved. The interior was perfect for a family of four and it included shower and toilet facilities as well as a table and chairs to sit at.
The whole experience was fantastic and you can get your food delivered to your accommodation too. Staying at Domaine De La Roche Belin was fantastic but I think that one or two nights would be the perfect amount of time. The area is home to sheep, goats, geese, chickens and donkeys many of which roam free around the accommodation. I woke to find sheep on the roof of the hobbit hole in the morning which I know the girls would have loved.
If you are looking for somewhere special to stay on your trip to France then I can definitely recommend you visit the Domaine De La Roche Belin and stay in one of their many types of alternative accommodation suitable for families or couples.
