Breakfast in style at the Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa

The Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa is set in the heart of Cottonopolis and is Manchester’s largest four-star hotel. Obviously living in Manchester we have never needed to stay there but we have stayed in the Macdonald Aviemore hotel so we were aware of the standards to expect when visiting. With this in mind, we jumped at the chance to visit the Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa on Fathers Day to enjoy breakfast in the Scottish Steak Club restaurant. Perfectly located with the city centre literally on the doorstep, it is the perfect starting point for all things fun in the city and as we had such a fun-filled day ahead of us with Elizabeth’s Birthday party it was the perfect chance to start the day the right way.

We were joined by the girls’ Godfather who had come to stay with us for the weekend but was a little worse for wear on Sunday morning. We parked up and headed to the first floor of the hotel to the Scottish Steak Club where we were shown to our seats.

The award-winning Scottish Steak Club restaurant serves the most amazing 21-day aged cuts of beef sourced from Scotbeef as well as an array of flavoursome dishes prepared using only the freshest ingredients by talented chefs. Open to the public it is an amazing place to dine and although I had never thought to dine there for breakfast before it will certainly be one of the first places I think of in future and here is why.As we went on Fathers Day we were treated to an extra special breakfast that included a Scotbeef rump steak and Macsween haggis. I have to say that life could not get much better than steak for breakfast and as a huge fan of haggis I was definitely happy about finding that on my plate too.

Unfortunately, I was so happy by what was on my plate that I ate it before I could take a picture so the picture above is sadly not one of mine, it does, however, show the amazing food items that I got to enjoy. As well as the special breakfasts we were also encouraged to visit the buffet breakfast bars and the girls definitely enjoyed doing that. Every single item of breakfast was high quality and tasted delicious. In fact, the sausages, something I would normally avoid on a buffet breakfast, were some of the nicest pork sausages I have tasted and the black pudding was crumbly and melted in my mouth. Oh god just thinking about it is making my stomach rumble! I need more of that black pudding in my life.

The Buffet breakfast itself was a treat with a selection of hot food, continental, fresh pastries, fruit and cereal as well as fresh juices and an abundance of tea and coffee.

We will certainly go back to the Scottish Steak Club at the Macdonald Manchester Hotel & Spa and we look forward to once again sampling the amazing steak and as the girls Godfather said he wishes every breakfast came with such a delicious steak. He also attributed his relief from his hangover to the magical meat but I will hold off on judgement of that until I can personally put it to the test!
