We take a look at the Air Hogs DR1 FPV race drone that allows you to get a first-person view of where your drone is flying via the included headset.
The Air Hogs DR1 FPV Race Drone is suitable for ages 1 plus and uses a free app to put you in the driving seat and allow you to see out of the camera on the front of the drone. You need to insert a smartphone with the app downloaded into the headset that is included in the box.
Also included in the box is a charger cable, two spare control sticks, a rotor removal tool and 4 replacement blades in case you need them. The controller uses 2 AAA batteries which are not included. The FPV Race Drone charges using the USB cable included.
The FPV Race Drone is a small drone measuring 3.5″ x 3″ x 1.5″ that is suitable for beginners and advanced flyers as there is a switch on the controller to change between those two modes with the green 1 representing the beginner mode and the red 2 representing advanced mode. I love the fact that the beginner mode features an easy launch mode which certainly made it easy to start flying.
The FPV Race Drone has a camera on the front that can be angled so that you can get different views. It then streams wirelessly to the app so you can see what your drone sees. This was great for my girls to wear whilst I was flying the drone.
The Air Hogs DR1 FPV Race Drone took some getting used to flying but with the auto takeoff and landing the process was a lot easier. The drone is able to do 360 barrel rolls and is really agile although I don’t quite have the skills for that just yet.
We recommend this drone to beginner flyers aged 10 plus who really want to race a fast flying drone and capture it using the app.
