When Flora contacted me last month and commissioned me to get creative in the kitchen and recreate one of their baking recipes, I jumped at the chance. Alison loves baking at the best of times but at Christmas, this seems to be amplified. I am not the best at baking and I usually rely on a packet mix when it comes to making cakes so although I was up for the challenge I also needed it to be a challenge that I could actually do. With this in mind, I selected to recreate their All-in-one cupcake recipe that uses Flora Buttery.
The recipe is really simple and requires 3 eggs, 150g self-raising flour, 150g Caster sugar and 150g Flora Buttery.
The best thing about this recipe is that you literally put it all in a bowl and mix it together. To make the cakes look a bit more Christmassy I added a few drops of red food colouring to the cake batter and stirred that through although they ended up more pink than Santa red.
The cakes baked in the oven for around 15 minutes at 180 degrees and then I took them out to leave them to cool. I mixed together two different colours of icing using icing sugar, food colouring and a small amount of water and then let the kids loose with a pot of festive sprinkles.
We had a great time in the kitchen baking together as a family. It was easy to make and they tasted delicious. Although they have only let me have one as they want to take the rest into school to give to their friends. It seems that Christmas is the time for giving just not to me.
I love recipes that are quick, easy and that taste great and this all-in-one flora cupcake recipe was just perfect for baking with the kids. I will definitely be looking at what other Flora cupcake recipes we can use in the festive season and beyond.
I do love a good all-in-one receipe, it makes life so simple. Mich x
You can’t go wrong with cupcakes. Love the festive colours 🙂
