Frankfurt with the Family

Travelling with family can be stressful, especially if your family includes young kids. However, with the correct planning and researching of what to see and do, where to stay and where to eat, your trip can easily become a memorable family trip of a lifetime. I was recently looking at taking a family trip to Frankfurt and discovered it is an excellent destination for a family city escape. Here are the top recommendations for a memorable family holiday to Frankfurt.

What to See

Believe it or not, there are many kid-friendly things to do in Frankfurt. One of the best days out there would be at Frankfurt Zoo. In the middle of the city over 4,500 animals, birds and reptiles can be found including elephants, tigers, gorillas, monkeys, snakes and more. There are also cafes in the zoo, so you don’t even have to worry about packing a picnic.

Frankfurt City Forest makes for a great day out as you can escape the hustle and bustle of the city and tune into nature for the afternoon. Beautiful tall trees pave the forest which also includes various playgrounds, picnic areas and walking trails.

The Natural History Museum is a great way to not only have a fun day out but an educational one. Take a journey through time back to the age of dinosaurs then continue to fill your mind with knowledge of the world’s mammals and other amazing species.

Where to Stay

When looking for accommodation for any family trip, it is always important to look for somewhere family friendly and where you will get the most space for your budget (because let’s face it, travelling with kids means bringing along lots of stuff which results in lots of mess). Serviced apartments in Frankfurt are the way forward! I took a look at Capri by Fraser as their apartments offer lots of space and even a kitchenette where I could prepare snacks and meals. They are also situated in a convenient location which is walking distance to local attractions and public transport.

 Where to Eat

When you’re looking to find a menu with something everyone will love, Good Guys looks like a hit. Serving up classic burgers and chips, the kids really loved this one. It also has a nice and relaxed atmosphere, perfect after a busy day of touring the city.

Pizza is another great choice that everyone always loves. You can either share, or everyone can get their own pie with the toppings they want. Pizzeria Peppe had a lovely welcoming atmosphere and the pizza was delicious!

I also read a recommendation for Telly’s TST which sounds amazing. This looks like the best option for happy and fed kids as it offers a big selection. Their huge menu is filled with many choices of fresh pasta dishes all made from the freshest ingredients. You can even choose the type of pasta you want with your dish.

Many people might think city breaks with kids can be difficult when it comes to where to eat and what to do. However, with the right research, you can always find things to make a memorable family trip. Frankfurt is highly recommended for a family adventure and one I can’t wait to explore.
