CLC World Duchally Country Resort Luxury Lodge Accommodation

Last week we were lucky enough to be able to spend three nights in a luxury lodge on the CLC World Duchally Country Resort. If you have ever been on a self-catering holiday before then you know that the facilities can really vary. What I found when I started looking through the cupboards in the Luxury lodge kitchen was that the accommodation was really well stocked. There was everything I could possibly need to create a huge variety of dishes. We had cups and glasses of various types including some plastic beakers that are suitable for the kids. We also had lots of saucepans and cooking pots. To add to the luxury the cupboards also hide a dishwasher and a washing machine. We don’t have a dishwasher at home so this was a really special treat(particularly because Adam usually does all the washing up and he wasn’t with us).

We were staying in one of the two berth luxury lodge accommodations which can sleep up to 6 people. When we have stayed in two bedroom accommodation before they have been quite small and we have always felt that having six people there would be a bit tight. That was not the case with these luxury lodges. From the moment we walked through the door we were amazed at the amount of space available to us.

The huge dining room table was a fantastic place to plan our days and enjoy a lovely family meal and the living room with two sofas and a single chair provided lots of space for us all to relax. The rooms each had separate temperature controls and the open plan living room/dining room had a variety of different lighting options which helped to set the mood. There was also a fabulous storage cupboard for our coats, boots and suitcases as well as being the area where you can find the cleaning equipment and ironing board.

The two bedrooms were huge and had lots of space. This meant that the girls were able to play in their room if they wanted too. Both bedrooms had lots of storage space and some beautiful furniture which really added that touch of luxury to the accommodation. When we stay away from home I always worry about the quality of the bed and I have no complaints whatsoever. The bed was so comfy that I actually didn’t want to get up each morning even with such lovely grounds to explore.

With an ensuite and a family bathroom, there was no arguing about who was going to get in the bath first as I just ran one in each bathroom. The separate shower cubicle was great too because I am not a lover of having a shower inside a bath (although there was also a shower head over the bath if this is what you prefer). In fact, they seem to have thought of everything including the heated towel rail which was fabulous when you step out of a nice hot shower on a cold Scottish morning.

It wasn’t just the inside of the accommodation that was fantastic. At the front of the lodge, we had the most amazing view of the hills and we could even see some snow on the top of some of them.

At the back of our luxury lodge, the living room opened up onto some decking which had a table and chairs for 6 and a bird table that we used to attract some of the local wildlife (including a pheasant!). The decking was in part of a courtyard where a few of the lodges backed onto. I can imagine it would be a lovely hive of chatter and play during the warm summer months but during the winter it was just us and the birds.

I will be writing more about our time at CLC World Duchally Country Estate and all of the things you can do there later in the week but if you want to see the accommodation in a bit more detail then check out my video walkthrough where we give you the tour when we first arrive.
