We were sent the Super Slow Sloths game by Ginger Fox for the purpose of this review. For 3 to 6 players and suitable for ages 8 plus the aim of the game is to be the last sloth to cross the finish line.
In the box, you will find 7 jigsaw race track pieces, 1 sloth spinner, 6 sloth playing pieces, 6 sloth character cards, 1 water station card, 25 snooze cards, 36 sabotage cards and 32 speed cards.
Super Slow Sloths strap line on the box says “get ready for Sloths, puns and sabotage” but I was not expecting to laugh as much as I did when I saw the character tokens for this game. Elizabeth has already claimed the Goth Sloth character card and I loved Vincent Van Sloth.
The track can be made into a pathway with a start and finish at either end of as a circle with the start and finish back to back. If you want a shorter game you can even build the track with fewer pieces.
To play the game set the track and then agree where you will place the water station. Place your characters on the starting space, the most sloth-like player starts by spinning the spinner and then draw a card from the corresponding pile and follow the instructions.
The Speed cards tend to make you move further along the track, the Sabotage cards move players around the board and the snooze cards move you back or keep you still for your go. All of the cards are full of great sloth based puns what make me smile and adds a lot of humour to the game.
When you are eliminated from the game on your turn, you do not use the spinner, instead, you can draw a sabotage card or use your character card Sabotage power to really change up the game. Play continues until there is just one Sloth remaining on the track.
