Confused by all the advent calendars? Check these out

It is that time of year again when we are about to start the countdown to the most magical day. Choosing the right advent calendar has certainly become harder as the years have gone by and more and more variations on the classic calendar have been introduced. I take a look at some of the advent calendars that I have been sent over the last month.

Cosmetic Advent Calendars

From right to left, top to bottom.

Wilko Kiss Cosmetic Advent Calendar £5 – This calendar is fantastic value for money with each item branded and looking stylish. This is a great advent calendar for tweens and teens.

Mad Beauty Advent Calendar £19.99 – This calendar gives a lot more contents with 2 multi-shade eye shadows, 5 lip glosses, 2 lip sticks, 3 nail polishes and so much more.

Flutter Beauty Advent Calendar on sale at £6.00 – This child-friendly calendar features a variety of plainly packaged items of makeup.  This is a great introduction to a cosmetic advent calendar for the younger girls but be aware the makeup isn’t the best quality so is definitely more play makeup than what the tweens and above will want.

Technic Cube Cosmetic Advent Calendar £14.99 – This cube has doors that open on all sides which is pretty cool. The cosmetics are of a good quality and come in some bright colours. This calendar also includes fake lashes and a little pocket mirror.

One that stands out above all the rest is The Vintage Cosmetic Company which retails at £99.99. This advent calendar is not only filled with gorgeous vintage pictures but the contents behind each door just shouts out high quality. The rose gold metal accessories are heavy and beautifully made with engravings on the handles. The shower cap is the best quality one I have ever felt and if there is something that you are not quite sure what it is then the words on the back of the door will tell you. My only issue with this advent calendar is that the cardboard is such high quality I struggled to actually open any of the doors without a pair of scissors!

12 days of Christmas

It seems that 12 days of Christmas calendars are now a thing and these three look brilliant.

Sweet Snuggles 12 days of Christmas on sale £6.00 – This set with clear windows allows you to see exactly what you are getting for your money and I think it is an ideal gift for young kids who love using bath bombs and lip balms.

12 days of Beauty Advent Calendar £10.99 – If you are looking for something that includes body lotions, bubble bath, bath fizzers and even bath salts then this 12 days of beauty calendar is perfect. It has 12 decent sized bath products in a funky triangular box and it smells delicious.

Studio London 12 days of Christmas Nail Varnish Calendar on sale £6.00 – This nail varnish calendar includes 12 small nail varnishes in extremely wearable colours that are perfect for tweens and teens. Although I quite like some of the colours myself.

Kids Advent Calendars (not chocolate based)

If you are looking for something a bit different for the kids that don’t include chocolate then these three Advent Calendars are some of the best available.

I love this Illustries’ ‘Countdown to Christmas’ advent calendar  which features a fun activity each day. There are baking activities, craft activities, jokes and so much more. There are even pages that can be used to write letters to Santa and write down your Christmas wishes.  £14.95.

The Lego Advent Calendars are always fantastic and this Lego City calendar is no exception. You can also get the Lego Advent Calendars in Star Wars and Lego Friends. Prices vary but are around £25 to £30.

This wooden “Days Until Christmas” Santa’s Head Hanging Calendar from Born Gifted looks amazing and is a great countdown calendar that helps to build the excitement of the big day. This fabulous Father Christmas has a moveable candy cane on his beard that can be moved countdown the days to Christmas.

Chocolate Advent Calendars

When it comes to Chocolate Advent Calendars I am a huge Hotel Chocolat fan and although they cost £12.50 you will not be disappointed with the treats that you get each day. Available in Dark, Milk, White and Caramel the hardest choice will be which one to choose.

Divine Chocolate’s advent calendar has a bright illustration that includes the nativity scene, with each window opening to reveal the next step of the nativity story along with a chocolate heart and the words ‘Merry Christmas’ in 24 different languages and its corresponding flag. £4

If you are looking at giving an advent calendar as a gift then the Cewe Kinder photo advent calendars look amazing and contain some delicious kinder miniatures.

Hopefully, this list will help you to choose the ideal way to count down to the big day!
