A Birthday party to remember

I can’t believe it has been two weeks since Elizabeth’s birthday party. Just where does the time go?

Anyway, I wanted to share with you one of the best birthday parties we have ever done and that is really saying something. Having completely cut back on our expenditure this year we opted for a do it yourself party but I didn’t want to just have the traditional party games. We got our thinking caps on and managed to pull together a party that was enjoyed by children of all ages and I have to say some of the adults seemed to have lots of fun too.

To start with we had some fabulous birthday party invitations created from The Card GalleryThey looked fantastic and not having to type out the address for every invitation certainly made me happier. The quality of the invites was amazing and we had lots of compliments on them from the people we invited.

Having hosted a Murder Mystery night in April, I was really pleased when Red Herring Games said that they would send us a children’s party kit. We were sent a Medieval Mystery kit and although we had to make a few adaptions due to location we kept the main concepts of the adventure and really got into the spirit of things.
We hunted for dragon scales, solved a crossword, tested the dragons food, searched for poison and even followed the footprints before solving the mystery but the best bit of our adventure was our visit to Merlin the wizard. Thanks to the girls God Father this was the highlight for most of the children and adults alike as the combination of the potion ingredients combined with Merlin’s moving moustache had everyone in fits of giggles.
As well as the Medieval Mystery we had lots of fabulous craft packs courtesy of Interplay. We used  their Craft Party packs so the kids could make something to take home and we used the new Fablab Glitter tattoo kit to decorate the kids and make them all sparkly.
Everyone had an amazing time and as they left they gathered their crafts, a slice of the beautiful cake and a party bag filled with Swizzels Matlow sweets and a balloon for the perfect end to the perfect party.
