5 Tips for Managing Anxiety During Stressful Times

As a single mum to two teenagers and with all three of us diagnosed with ADHD I know all too well how stressful life can be. With the added pressures of work, family, and social obligations, it can be difficult to manage our anxiety during these times. In this article, I will share five tips that I have found to be helpful in managing my anxiety during stressful times.

Take Time for Yourself

When life gets busy, it can be easy to forget to take time for yourself. Taking time for yourself is essential for managing anxiety during stressful times. Whether it’s taking a few minutes to meditate, going for a walk, or reading a book, taking time for yourself can help to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s important to remember that taking time for yourself doesn’t have to be a long process. Even a few minutes of self-care can make a big difference.

Reach Out to Friends and Family

When we’re feeling overwhelmed, it can be helpful to reach out to friends and family for support. Talking to someone who understands can help to reduce stress and anxiety. It’s important to remember that it’s okay to ask for help. Reaching out to friends and family can be a great way to get the support you need during stressful times.

Exercise Regularly

Exercise is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. Regular exercise can help to reduce cortisol levels, which can help to reduce stress and anxiety. Exercise can also help to boost endorphins, which can help to improve mood and reduce stress. Even a few minutes of exercise can make a big difference in managing anxiety during stressful times.

Get Enough Sleep

Getting enough sleep is essential for managing anxiety during stressful times. When we don’t get enough sleep, our bodies and minds become more vulnerable to stress and anxiety. Aim to get at least seven to eight hours of sleep each night. If you’re having trouble sleeping, try to establish a regular sleep routine and avoid screens before bed.

Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a great way to reduce stress and anxiety. Mindfulness is the practice of being present in the moment and focusing on your thoughts and feelings without judgement. Practicing mindfulness can help to reduce stress and anxiety by allowing us to be more aware of our thoughts and feelings. There are many ways to practice mindfulness, such as meditation, yoga, and journaling.

Managing anxiety during stressful times can be challenging, but it is possible. Taking time for yourself, reaching out to friends and family, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, and practicing mindfulness are all great ways to reduce stress and anxiety. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when you need it. With these tips, you can manage your anxiety during stressful times.
