Where would you escape to for Winter Sun?

Earlier this week I became aware of the alpharooms blog competition to win a winter escape to the Costa Del Sol in early 2016 so I thought I would share with you my favourite Winter Sun destination. We first went to Lanzarote in the November of 2009 for our honeymoon and we enjoyed it so much that we went there again last year in September.

As part of the Canary Islands, Lanzarote has a great temperature all year round and although winter had come in the UK the sun was shining in Lanzarote.

I am not a lover of really hot climates so going away in the winter to countries where the temperature would be around the mid twenties is perfect for me and great for the kids too. It means that we are never too hot that we cant enjoy ourselves but we can still get a lovely tan and a good top up of Vitamin D.

We did some amazing things whilst in Lanzarote, we rode camels, went on a submarine and even got to meet some friendly sealions. One of the things I love about travelling is getting the chance to eat some gorgeous local food and take in the brilliant landscape. The canary islands have some fabulous traditional dishes to try and some beautiful volcanic landscape unlike any other I have seen so I would definitely recommend  visiting the islands. We haven’t visited much of Lanzarote so far and I would love to spend even more time exploring the rest of the island. Both times we visited we have stayed in Costa Tequise but I would love to stay in one of the places to the south of the island and maybe take a boat to one of the other islands for a day. We have so many amazing memories from our winter sun holidays and they are never that crowded either

The canary island come quite high up on the list along with parts of spain. I would also love to visit Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt which all look like great winter sun destinations too.
