Travelling the world with a Global Travel card

This summer is full of fun and adventures for the Tired Mummy of Two household and having just come back from Turkey we are already packing our suitcases for our next foreign adventure.

This Sunday Alison and I will be boarding a plane to Florida for a few days and lucky for me I have been using our Caxton FX Global Travel card to save some spending money and anything we don’t spend in America we will be able to use at the end of the month when we head to Lanzarote for a week.

When I first heard about the global travel card I knew it would be useful for going to Turkey but what I failed to think about is the fact I could also use it here in the UK. In fact the money I had left after going to Turkey went towards booking our car hire for Lanzarote and our travel insurance too.

Caxton FX have two other cards available the dollar card and the euro card which convert your sterling into those currencies at the time of loading however the Global travel card only transfers the money into the local currency at the time of spending. This means that my money stays on my card as Sterling and that I only need the one card no matter where I travel. I was able to use it to get Lira out of the cash machine in Turkey, book car hire in Sterling and next week I will be able to buy souvenirs for Elizabeth in Dollars when in Florida. Knowing exactly how much money I have spent in sterling is great and the Caxton FX app allows me to keep track of that and top it up when needed.

I don’t know what I would do without my Caxton FX Global card now and I don’t even have to worry about getting foreign currency before I travel as it is free to withdraw money from the ATM no matter where I am (some ATMs may charge but Caxton FX won’t).

The best thing about the Caxton FX cards is that you can transfer amounts every week or month to help save spending money for future adventures through the app, online or via sms. This is something I find really useful as I am not the best at saving money without hiding it away and holidays can be expensive things that need planning and organisation.

I am sure I will think of lots of other fabulous uses for my Caxton FX card and I will keep you informed of how I get on with it.
