Steak or Lobster

On Monday we headed into Manchester for a late lunch at the Steak and Lobster in the Radisson Blu Manchester. It is a venue we have wanted to eat at since we saw the leaflet last year at the Christmas Afternoon tea we reviewed.

The idea is simple you order Steak or Lobster. Ok so there is a vegetarian option and it actually sounded delicious, spiced sweet potato and mixed vegetable burger. If it wasn’t a toss up between steak or lobster then the vegetarian option may have made its way on to my plate.

As it was I opted for the steak. A 10oz rib eye cooked to perfection. It was juicy, succulent and tasted delicious. You could pay extra for additional sauces but the garlic and chive butter was a perfect complement to the chargrilled meat.

As much as I loved my steak the unlimited salad and fries was definitely a bonus. The salad is made with mixed baby leaves, banana shallots, freshly grated parmesan, sunflower seeds and topped with crispy croutons and was absolutely gorgeous so I had to have seconds whilst the girls enjoyed helping me eat a second portion of fries.

Talking of the girls they really enjoyed their menu and I have never seen Elizabeth eat so much of a starter before. Alison chose the tomato soup and sausage and mash followed by a chocolate brownie and Elizabeth chose pasta bolognese, sausage and mash followed by strawberry ice cream.

Elizabeth absolutely loved her pasta bolognese and she has asked that we now make spaghetti bolognese (her favourite) with pasta and fresh parmasan in future. You couldn’t ask for higher praise.  In fact we couldn’t fault it at all. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious and the setting was understated which meant we were comfortable to be there as a family without feeling we had to chain the children to their seats so they didn’t touch anything.

We all left feeling very satisfied (and a little bit full!)
