Luxury Holiday Accommodation in the Highlands – Eagle Brae

A few weeks ago I headed up to Inverness for a Bloggers retreat at the stunning Eagle Brae. These stunning luxury log cabins in the Scottish Highlands are surrounded by stunning scenery and teaming with wildlife. The perfect venue for a bloggers retreat with 9 other bloggers but also an amazing place to visit with the family.

I was staying in the Aquila lodge which had two twin bedrooms and then two beds in a curtained off area. There are currently 6 lodges at Eagle Brae with a further 3 being built this year.

Upstairs twin bedroom with ensuite
Downstairs twin bedroom
Upstairs landing with two single bed cubby holes with curtains and lights

As well as the bedrooms and the ensuite with separate shower cubicle there is also a separate work area with a printer and computer that is available for you to use. The free wifi in the lodge is good enough for browsing the internet but it did struggle with the heavy use that us bloggers threw at it although you can buy additional wifi if you wished to get faster internet. I can imagine that I would be able to get a lot of work done here.

The downstairs area had a twin bedroom and a bathroom with a really deep bath and a shower over the bath.  When you first walked in you entered a large porch type area which was perfect for leaving muddy boots and hanging up coats. This is also where you could find the washing machine and tumble dryer as well. The rest of the downstairs area was open plan with plenty of seating in the living room.

The dining area featured a large light wooden table and six chairs and it was around this table that we spent our evenings playing games together.

The open plan kitchen had every piece of kitchen equipment you could possibly need hiding in its many cupboards. I enjoyed cooking in this kitchen and could imagine cooking in here with my girls. If you don’t fancy cooking then you could also use the Eagle Brae Concierge service to order delicious meals that you just need to defrost and heat up. Our hosts were kind enough to provide us with some of these meals on the first night and they were absolutely delicious.

The decor in the Aquila lodge was a fantastic mix of Himalayan carvings and classic Scottish Highlands lodge.

I loved the attention to detail that has gone into the whole feeling of the lodges. The stag head on the wall with the old-fashioned Scottish pottery underneath have it feel as though you were in a different timezone whilst the Himalayan carvings made you feel somewhere exotic.

I really did feel as though I had escaped from reality whilst at Eagle Brae. It was a magical place that I know my kids would absolutely love. With the wood burning fire heating the house and the most wonderful views from the balcony over the highlands coupled with the amazing wildlife, it really is the perfect luxury retreat.

Eagle Brae was around a 40-minute drive from the centre of Inverness and easily accessible. It is also near Loch Ness where we went on one of the days that we were there. If you are looking to experience the Highlands in luxury in a warm and welcoming environment surrounded by gorgeous tranquil landscapes yet with all the amenities that matter such as wifi, tv and a nice warm bath then Eagle Brae would be the perfect location for you.
