Thorpe Park has become in my opinion quite a grown up thrill seeking park – but that doesn’t mean that there is nothing there for the little ones. If, like myself, you have children of different heights then you can always split up and utilise the Parent Swap scheme to take turns on the bigger rides yourself too. Knowing where you can go on the day will help you plan and make the most of your time at Thorpe Park Resort, so here is a guide on which rides children can go on depending on their height.
Rides at Thorpe Park for those Under 1.4m
The magic 1.4m is the height you have to be to ride the big rides and we currently only have 1 child who hasn’t reached this yet! This however means I am very familiar with the alternative rides at the Resort suitable for the smaller child. These again vary depending on your child’s height and whether they wish to go on alone or with an adult (as believe me some rides you may not want to go on if you do not have a head for heights!). Note that all the rides have a minimum height restriction of 0.9m to ride.
Thorpe Park Resort Rides for those over 0.9m
- Flying Fish, Rumba Rapids and Timber Tug Boat – For these rides if the rider is under 1.1m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over.
- Depth Charge, Rocky Express, Mr Monkey’s Banana Ride – For these rides if the rider is under 1.2m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over.
- Zodiac – although if the rider is under 1.4m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over.
Thorpe Park Resort Rides for those over 1m
In addition to the above they can also go on Wet Wet Wet – unaccompanied on the blue and green slides and with someone age 16 plus on the cream slide. And X (under 1.2m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over) – note that this ride you have to ride in pairs.
Thorpe Park Resort Rides for those over 1.1m
- Storm Surge (if the rider is under 1.2m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over)
- Storm in a Teacup and King Pig’s Wild Hog Dodgems (although for these if the rider is under 1.3m they must be accompanied by someone ages 16 or over).

Tidal Wave (but honestly make sure you bring a change of clothes!) and Quantum.

Detonator: Bombs Away and Rush.

Stealth, THE SWARM, Samurai, SAW – The Ride, Slammer, Nemesis Inferno, Derren Brown’s Ghost train: Rise of the Demon, Colossus, and Vortex.
The I’m a Celebrity …Maze suggests that it is suitable for those ages 8 years old and over. There are a few other things to entertain that do not have any limitations: With Amity Beach suitable for families with younger children only and the ANGRY BIRDS 4D experience suitable for all (well who can wear the glasses and watch a screen).
Plus there are several games to play (for an additional cost) and places to eat – including the new yummy Donut Factory.
