Hubby was working tonight so I took along one of my friends and her daughter for a girls night out. The menu has has a complete overhaul with over 80 changes which incorporate tweaks to previous dishes and brand new dishes. There was a lot to take in and as I normally struggle to choose what to order due to the choice the new menu just made those decisions even harder.
We started with the bread basket which featured the new rosemary bread as well as olives, hummus, dip and breadsticks. We also sampled the new mushroom Risotto cakes which came with a delicious mild salsa.
For main course I finally chose the Mac and Cheese burger although this was a tough choice between that, the waffle burger and the chilli calamari pasta which all sounded amazing. My companion for the evening selected the maple flavoured gammon with fried egg. I am not sure why it is maple flavoured and not just maple but she said it was quite sweet. The plate was soon empty though so it must have been nice.
I was slightly disappointed to find that my food was not served on a plate, The wooden board that it was served on was not very big and there was no space to pour my fries from the paper bag on to the board which was irritating. I don’t really want to eat out of a paper bag in a restaurant. However it didn’t detract from the food. The burger featured a patty of breadcrumb coated macaroni and cheese as well as a lovely meaty beef burger but the item that stood out for me was the coleslaw. It tasted fresh, was crunchy and full of flavour, I just wish I had a bigger portion to enjoy.
We really enjoyed visiting Frankie and Bennys for the launch of their new menu and although I thought most of the food was deliciousĀ I am not sure I would order the Mac and Cheese burger again as it was quite heavy on my stomach but I would certainly go back to Frankie and Bennys again soon so I can try out some of the other new additions from across the menu.
