We have just come back from an amazing weekend at Efteling, a fairytale theme park in the Netherlands. We were lucky enough to be invited across to spend two nights in Efteling Bosrijk a holiday village just a short walk from the park entrance.
We were staying in one of the six berth holiday village homes near the back of Efteling Bosjirk, this meant that we had a lovely walk through the grounds to our accommodation. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed walking around the lake where the sandman sleeps.
Everywhere we went there was small details that made the place very magical including a bench which said: “the big bad wolf was here”. There were lots of play areas and an abundance of wildlife including lots of baby bunnies. Outside our accommodation, there was a musical wishing well which my girls loved. As you turned the handle you could hear faint tinkling music.
Before we had even opened the door to our accommodation I knew that we would love it and I wasn’t disappointed. The large open planned downstairs area was perfect for a family. In the entrance hall, there was a coat rack and space to leave muddy shoes as well as a toilet.
The living room/dining room included lots of seating although we didn’t spend much time there. Everything was in natural colours with lots of wood and metal and it all looked amazing. In the living room, you will find a bedtime storybook and sleeping hats that you can take home. If the book is not in English you can ask at the reception for them to change it so you can read it.
The kitchen had everything that you could possibly need for a family self-catering holiday. However, if you don’t fancy cooking then there are lots of other options. You can eat at the restaurant in the reception, buy food from the shop and even order food for delivery to your accommodation. You can order pizza, pasta and desserts for dinner or a selection of breakfast items including some special packages full of everything you could possibly want.
The beds are all made up with a special Sandman bedding that is the same on every bed. It is great to arrive at self-catering accommodation and finding the beds premade as this isn’t always the case.
There were three bedrooms in the village house that we stayed in. Two with two single beds and one with a set of bunk beds. The room with the bunk beds also included a night light and a special table and chairs where the kids could play a game that is on the surface of the table. Instructions for the game were available in lots of different languages but we didn’t end up playing as we were always so tired after long days in the park.
We had an amazing time at Efteling and staying at Efteling Bosrijk helped to make the whole thing more magical. From the amazing buffet breakfasts full of fresh pastries to the comfortable beds and awesome scenery, it really was a weekend to remember.

This looks amazing. We had a wonderful day at the park last week and are already planning on going back and staying on-site!
