We love going out to eat as a family and trying new foods so when we were invited to visit Chaophraya in Manchester to test out the new menu I couldn’t resist. In fact, we scheduled our review for the evening of my birthday for an extra special treat.
Chaophraya serves traditional Thai food with a twist. The new Thai reimagined menu features dishes specially created by the founder of Chaophraya using something a little bit different but containing some traditional Thai flavours.
On arrival, we received some crackers and dip which we all demolished including the kids. There was so much on the menu that sounded delicious that we struggled to choose so we decided to eat from the Regal Set Menu which is £42 per person.
The starter was the Khun Kim Grill Satay platter which featured steak, chicken and a variety of vegetable skewers with three different sauces. This was a perfect starter and we were all fighting over it. We did order the girls meals from the kid’s menu but they both enjoyed sampling from our food as well.
We then sampled two dishes from Thai Reimagined menu. The Ceviche Scallop Chilli & Dressing Nasturiums which were full of amazing flavours and the Tom Yum Roast Duck Wings which were unusual yet delicious.
Our main courses consisted of Pad Cha Talay (seafood in aromatic spices), Pad Pik Tai Dum (Beef in Black Pepper Sauce), Gaeng Massaman (Royal Sous Vide Lamb Massaman Curry) and Gai Tod Rad Pik (Thai Crispy Chicken) served with Khao Riceberry, a purple coloured organic rice known as Thailand’s own super-food. All of these dishes were amazing but the Gaeng Massaman was absolutely amazing, the melt in your mouth texture to the meat and the beautiful blend of spices accompanied by the heat of the chillis and the crunch of the cashews made this my absolute favourite Thai dish I have ever tasted.
All of the food we tried at Chaophraya tantalised our tastebuds and had our mouths watering for more yet our stomachs fit to burst. We didn’t have a pudding as we had no space left but the pudding with this menu is a coconut milk pudding.
We can’t wait to visit again and sample more of the delicious menu and it comes highly recommended so definitely add Chaophraya to your must-visit list.
