Top Toys – K’nex Typhoon Frenzy Roller Coaster building set

Before January I hadn’t really paid much attention to K’nex, we are a Lego family and the girls were still a bit young so it hadn’t really been on my radar but after visiting the stand at Toy Fair I knew we had to try them out this year and I was not disappointed.

One of the things that attracted me to K’nex was the fabulous display of funfair rides that were going around and around. They had Ferris wheels, roller coasters and more and I knew that this would be exactly the sort of thing that Elizabeth would enjoy building. After all seeing what you have built come to life is really rewarding.

We were sent Typhoon Frenzy Roller Coaster which is for ages 9 plus, is over two and a half feet tall and is made with 649 pieces.

The girls decided to work together to help me build this and we did find a few parts of the instructions tricky. Not so tricky we couldnt work it out but not overly obvious. However I think that this comes with experience of the sets as the further into the instructions we got the easier it seemed to put it all together and the confusing areas soon made complete sense.

Setting the Roller Coaster off is something that the girls have really enjoyed doing over the past few days and they love just watching it go round and round. It really is a shame to have to put a masterpiece like this back in the box but we just don’t have the space to keep it up all the time.

If you are looking for a satisfying project for someone who loves building things then this K’nex set could be the right one for you. They also have a variety of others including the new Beasts Alive range which also looks amazing.
