So what would have happened if Aladdin never kept the lamp? We were sent the first in the Disney Twisted Tales series and I absolutely loved it!
Written with teens in mind the book is easy to digest and is a real page turner. When Aladdin is on his way out of the cave of wonders Jafar takes the lamp and then seals Aladdin inside. This starts a whole new journey for Aladdin, Jasmine, Genie and Jafar.
With Jafar in control of the Genie, things go from bad to worse in Agrabah. His first two wishes make him a powerful sorcerer and Sultan of Agrabah but when he wishes for Jasmine to fall in love with him he is told all about the rules of magic. Jafar can’t stand the fact that there are rules preventing him from everything he desires and becomes determined to break the laws of magic.
Whilst Jafar is up to no good, Jasmine escapes into Agrabah and meets up with Aladdin and the Street Rats. Together they put together an army and come up with a plan to steal the lamp, stop Jafar and save Agrabah.
Without giving away too much of the story the book follows the main characters from the traditional tale as they embark on an adventure, unlike the one we have previously known.
I really enjoyed this story and I am looking forward to reading the other twisted tales in the series to find out what happens when some of the other classic Disney stories get a little bit twisted.
