Spookley the square pumpkin is a fabulously animated story about a pumpkin who didn’t fit in. All the other pumpkins in the patch were round and some of them bullied Spookley about his squaredness. Even those pumpkins who would not normally be nasty decided that Spookley was different and different was not good.
Spookley overcame all odds and used his differences to his advantages, doing things that the other pumpkins couldn’t do to save them all from disaster.
A great movie that had the girls talking about how nasty the round pumpkins were and how they should like Spookley because he was nice and not be horrid because he was different. It really broached the subject well and I was impressed with how well the girls understood the meaning of the story.
If only all things were as easy to explain as accepting differences.
