Nickelodeon Dance 2 for Kinect

Picture

My two little girls were very excited recently when I showed them a new game I had received for the Xbox 360.  It’s not hard to understand why given that they absolutely adore all the Nickeldoen characters for this game.  Their favourites are Dora, Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi, which must also be mine given that I can’t stop singing their songs.

It’s our family’s first dancing game for the Kinect system and I was unsure whether it would pick up the movements of my 4 and 5 year old.  I’m pleased to confirm that the designers of the game have thought about this and made it so that the game is very forgiving.  Navigating the menu via the Kinect was not easy for the girls, so I had to be there to help set up the game for each song.  This is not a fault on the game’s part more a case that my girls are too young to understand.  It was a lot easier allowing them to use the Xbox controller to navigate the menu.

Following a simple tutorial on how the game works, you can begin selecting the difficulty and then your song (please note that depending on the preferred difficulty level, there are only 6 or 7 songs available to choose from).  The difficulty levels are “Starting Steps”, “Smooth Moves”, “Fancy Footwork” and “Workout”.  I was a bit sad about this as the girls wouldn’t be able to dance to all the songs on the game but they were having so much fun that they didn’t seem to care.  It was great that the girls could a skip song if they didn’t like the one they had selected and they especially loved it when during a dance the game would shout “Freeze” and they had to hold very still in order to gain better points.

This is easily the most played Kinect game in our household as both girls are able to play at the same time.  Another great feature is that if one of the girls got bored and walk away then the game would drop that player mid dance, allowing the other to continue obtaining points.  At the moment this game appears to be a bargain on Amazon for around £8.  If your children love Dora, Bubble Guppies and Team Umizoomi, then they are sure to love playing this game (just like me!).
