Why hire a Magento agency?

I’m sure you’ve all heard about Shopify, WordPress and so on… but have you heard about Magento? If you have an online shop of any size, knowing about Magento might come in handy in the future. You might have just started selling your handmade chocolate on an online marketplace like Etsy or have had an online business for years selling children’s soft play – if you don’t know about Magento, you should.

For some expert input, I’ve partnered up with Magento agency Ad Lab, which shared the ins and outs of all things Magento and what it means to be a Magento agency. They have years of experience in building Magento websites plus, have a team of Magento designers and Magento developers. So, I thought they would be the best people to speak to about this platform.

What is Magento?

Before we jump into “Why hire a Magento agency?” it’s important to tackle the elephant in the room… what is Magento? Magento is a website platform owned by Adobe that specialises in eCommerce websites. It’s an open-source platform where, with the help of developers and designers, you can create the website of your dreams.

“Magento is divided into two categories: Magento Open Source and Magento Enterprise (now renamed Adobe Commerce). Open Source is the free version of Magento whilst Magento Enterprise is the paid version and better suitable for more established eCommerce shops.” Says Rock N Roller Baby.

Why hire a Magento agency?

One-stop-shop.

As She Might Be Loved explains, “A Magento agency will have multiple specialists who will help you during all stages of your Magento website, from design to marketing all the way to expanding to different markets. Most Magento agencies will have Magento designers, developers, marketers and other specialists who will be able to help you create, build and grow your online business.”

If you are looking to cut costs and hire one person to do it all, forget about it. There isn’t a single person on the planet who has all the expertise that can be found in an agency. If someone tells you they can do it all, doesn’t mean that they will do it well. At the end of the day, it’s your business – it should be done to standard.

Wannabe Princess also agrees with me, saying that no single person is an expert in all marketing and digital disciplines. “You will not find a freelancer that has the skills of a developer, designer, copywriter, marketeer, advertiser all in one. And if you’ve found someone that claims to be able to do all of these, steer away.”

I’m also a firm believer that quality is better than quantity. Whether you have a shop in the High Street or online, quality is key to a successful business. Maybe you want to grow your online business and are ready to upgrade your small and limited Shopify website to a Magento shop, I’d recommend hiring a Magento eCommerce agency.
