Top gifts for new mums

We have recently welcomed two new babies into the world as two separate members of our family have given birth in the last month and it got me thinking. For one of these family members this is her very first baby and for the other one this is her third. It is strange how we think about what gifts to give new mums based on this information.

Obviously giving a gift should be individual to the person you are giving to but I decided to pull together some ideas of what you can get for new mums by reaching out to some companies to ask for their ideas. I find that this is a great way to be introduced to new things that I wouldn’t have thought about. One brilliant example of this is the Indigo Botanical Post Natal Care Essential oil blend. Now I would never have bought any essential oil brands if left to my own devices but it smelled amazing and when I gave this to the new mum she loved it. Indigo Botanical Post Natal Care Essential oil can be added to a bath, burnt in an oil burner or mixed with sweet almond oil and massaged on to the skin. The smell made me feel relaxed so I can imagine that this will be really useful during those exhausting first few weeks (or months!).

When I had just had my first baby I just wanted to spend my days with my feet up on the sofa wrapped in a blanket so this Snuggle Sac blanket from Room to grow would be ideal. It is huge at 170 cm x 150 cm so is perfect for covering up and having a cuddle together with your new born. It will also make a great blanket for their beds as they get older.

If you are looking to give a keepsake or something that can help to capture the memories then this Trollbeads Silver Invitation bracelet with Bow lock and Trollbeads Teddy Bear bead both from Joshua James would be ideal. Being able to add the beads that you want to signify special occasions make a gift like this one that keeps on giving.

New Mums can never have enough baby clothes and I have never felt anything as soft as this newborn organic bamboo babygrow from Boody baby. To be fair this babygrow is pretty clever because it has a two way zip which means it is easy to change the baby without completely undressing them and it has fold over mits to stop them scratching themselves.

When new mums are ready to leave the house they want to do it in style and Kiddies Kingdom sent me this stylish pink Hauck Sammy changing bag which comes with a changing mat, utility bag and insulated bottle bag.  I don’t believe you should only have one changing bag as you need them to match your outfits so being able to pick them up at a reasonable price like this is brilliant.

Finally you could always buy something for the baby instead. Obviously only being young they don’t need much but you can get some great from birth toys from Rainbow Designs. I absolutely love these Very hungry Caterpillar products which are really bright and colourful. If you want something a bit more traditional then this teddy and rattle from Miffy also make great gifts.

Buying gifts for new mums doesn’t have to be expensive or difficult and hopefully these gift ideas will help you find something suitable.
