Thorpe Park Summer of Fun

As my regular readers will know we have Merlin Passes and we love putting them to good use. We have already used them to visit so many theme parks including Alton Towers, Chessington World of Adventures and Legoland Windsor.

Having grown up in Slough my local theme park was Thorpe Park and it is a place that holds many fantastic memories for me. As I am spending most of the summer at my Mums I am looking at taking the girls over there as well as my little brother who is 13 and my niece who is 14. The rides all look far too scary for me but with ones like Saw, Stealth and Swarm there are certainly enough to keep them out of my hair for the day and screaming with pure terror.

Since I was younger Thorpe park has changed a lot, the rides and park itself is aimed at the older audience but they don’t exclude the younger ones either. Elizabeth is 1.18m and she can go on 11 rides at Thorpe Park, Alison is 1.02m and she can go on eight. To be fair in a day that is more than likely enough for them and the older ones can go off and enjoy the scarier rides too. Add to that the fact that I can kick back and relax on Neptune’s Beach whilst the girls can make a splash on the Wet Wet Wet water slides or paddle in the pool.

When I take family to these places I always end up buying tickets for them and so I was impressed to find out that Thorpe Park have got a deal on where a Full Priced ticket now allows you to access the park until the end of the Season or for £10 more you can get access for a whole year! If you live local it is worth popping over there sometime before the end of the season if only to allow you to go as many times as you want next year.

This summer I am impressed to see that there is even more fun to be had. Theme parks are always busy during the summer holidays so for Thorpe Park to decide to put on extra entertainment is an added benefit for the normal visitors rather than a way to entice more visitors to attend.

The Summer of fun is called Sun Scream and is for ten days from 23rd August to 1st September. There are plenty of FREE family fun extras, including daytime silent discos, adrenaline-fuelled stunts, plus freestyle hip-hop and beatbox performances and workshops. My little brother is very excited by the stunts so he has asked us to delay our trip so we can go during Sun Scream. I just hope the weather stays lovely or they may have to change the name.

We have been offered free tickets to go to Thorpe Park which I will be giving to other members of my family so we can all go together.
