“Staying in is the new going out” that was the brief I was given earlier this month. There were lot of ideas spinning around my head. Use the £100 I was given to have a meal in with friends, have a film night with some wine and a takeaway or throw a party to get the family all together.
With my mums and my sisters birthdays falling in the week before I was due to visit so a party won. Not just any party though. We wanted it to be a bit different. So we decided to have a games night.
I have to say a huge thank you to my sister who not only hosted the party for me but actually did all the shopping for it too.
With lots of crisps and nibbles out for everyone to enjoy she certainly did me proud. There was even a few slimming world snacks available too.
The kids got the games started and had great fun playing Hungry Hippos before we moved onto a team game of What a Performance.
They loved all playing together and it has been a while since they all got the chance to do this.
As the night wore on the kids became tired so took up residence in Auntie Amanda’s bed for a bit of a nap.
This allowed the adults to move on to some of the games for older players. We really enjoyed Telestrations, Logo and Beat the parents. Those of us still playing then got out Bananagrams but my mum won every game so we soon got fed up of that.
The evening ended with a spur of the moment fundraiser when we convinced my brother to have his head shaved off to raise money for Macmillan. £1 per adult and I have £20 to give to Macmillan and my brother has a very cold head.
I was sponsored by Swinton Home Insurance to have a great night in and to tell you about their competitive home insurance quotes that are available online.
