In a few weeks I will be wobbling my wobbly bits for six hours in the Red Nose Day Danceathon as part of Team Honk and to help me get in the spirit of things I am surrounding myself with red noses. Luckily for me Homesense have a fabulous range of Red Nose Day homeware available instore and online.
Now to help me get in the Red Nose Day spirit Homesense sent me a fabulous Red Nose Day apron and challenged me to get creative in the kitchen.
I am not the best chef out there in fact I don’t even own some kitchen scales as I am more of a bung it in and hope for the best type of cook so this was a bit of a challenge.
So here you go this is my Red Nose Rocky Road (The throw it all in method)
3 bars of cooking chocolate
2 tablespoon of butter
2 tablespoons of golden syrup
a couple of handfuls of mini marshmallows
a handful of raisins or sultanas
half a packet of roughly crunched up biscuits (digestives, shortbread or cookies)
Enough Glacier Cherries for each piece of Rocky Road
Now depending on how big your bars of chocolate are you might need to add extra of the other ingredients but I basically go on the ratio of 1 part raisins, 2 parts marshmallows, 3 parts biscuits.
Melt all of the chocolate, butter and golden syrup in a bowl over a pan of hot water.
Once melted stir in the ingredients (using your hands is not essential) until all the ingredients are covered in chocolate.
Place in a tray or small cupcake cases and top each section or item with a glacier cherry.
Refrigerate until hard.
Then serve (or hide them at the back of the fridge and eat them all yourself!).
Our Homesense Red Nose Day apron was not harmed during the making of this recipe however it did acquire a few stains.
