Mother and Daughter (and Grand daughters) Afternoon Tea with Red Letter Days

Mothers Day is on the horizon and I have always been a believer of experiences over gifts and my Mum is the same. We don’t need more tat with Worlds Best Mum written on it but a nice afternoon tea, a spa day or a trip to the theatre would all be welcome.

With that in mind, when I was asked by Red Letter Days if I wanted to feature them for Mother’s Day I asked if I could take my Mum to Afternoon Tea.

We visited the Grovefield House Hotel using one of the Red Letter Days afternoon tea for two vouchers. I actually took both of my daughters to make it a three generational Afternoon Tea and just paid for one afternoon tea which they shared as there was plenty to go around.

The Red Letter Day Afternoon Tea for two voucher allowed us to get the Deluxe Afternoon Tea where you got six finger sandwiches each and you could choose two fillings from a choice of five. These included Honey Roast Ham with Piccalilli, Brie with cranberry, Roast beef with red onion marmalade, Curried egg and watercress and Tuna Nicoise. The sweet selection included two large warm scones to share and a selection of four sweet treats. The sweet treats were ginger and orange marmalade cake, blackberry and apple tart, rum and raisin cheesecake and sherry trifle.

I am pretty sure my Mum doesn’t read my blog anymore which is why I feel that I can get away with this picture.

As you can see, the quantity of food is quite generous although I would have preferred less sandwiches and another scone instead. I was hoping to be able to steal one from my girls but the scones were the first thing to go.

A lot of people worry about taking children to Afternoon Tea but I have been doing it for years. Both of my girls love the treat and they have even started to enjoy a nice flavoured tea each.

Although this particular hotel didn’t offer a children’s afternoon tea menu you will find that some of them do and those that don’t are usually really accommodating.

The Red Letter Days Afternoon Tea for two voucher is really good value and a lovely gift to give this Mothers Day, especially if you also give up your time to enjoy it with your mum as well.
