Learning to code with Star Wars

As it is Star Wars month and I am pretty much geeking out about everything it seems only apt that I receive an email regarding the global Hour of code campaign which has hooked up with Disney to create a fabulous Star Wars coding experience. Whether you are coding in blocks or learning Javascript this Star Wars program developed by Code.org is a great introduction into creating fun and interesting games.

From basic movement controls such as up, down, left and right to changing the background, creating obstacles and changing speed you will learn to create your own game

Ok so I know it is meant for kids, but I just spent an hour having so much fun coding R2D2 and C3PO to chase a variety of Star Wars characters around Endor and Hoth among other locations. I have certainly spent my Monday lunch times doing things that are a lot less productive in the past.

If you want to check out the game I built just click on the link below, the aim of the game is to capture all the characters, have fun!
