Samsung are launching a new project and it is all about taking people with amazing untapped talents and showing them to the world. Using Samsung’s wealth of technology and four amazing stars who will be mentoring those selected to give them the opportunity of a lifetime.
The mentors, together with Samsung will be looking to find people with extraordinary potential and original ideas. The chosen candidates will work with one of the four inspirational mentors to collaborate on a unique project. Their journey, from meeting the mentors to the launch of their project, will be captured in a television series, LAUNCHING PEOPLE, produced by Fresh One, part of the Jamie Oliver Media Group, for Sky 1 HD and will air in the spring.

THE MENTORS
Film: Idris Elba, award winning actor, producer, and DJ
“I’m looking for someone that wants to tell a story and inspire others. They might have an idea that they’re not quite sure how to take to the next level. If I represent anything, it’s someone who dreamed big and achieved those dreams. If anyone out there has a similar aspiration, then I want to hear from them.”
Are you a budding film maker? Do you have an idea or something to say, do you want to make an impact? I am rubbish with video but I would love to make a video to raise awareness of the many and varied symptoms of leukaemia. I would want to try and make a viral video so that it could reach as many people as possible as I had no idea how common it was until it affected us.
Music: Paloma Faith, singer-songwriter, performer and actress
“I’m really looking for something that we’ve not seen in a British artist before. What’s important to me is that the person has something innovative to offer, something that defies genre. I’m looking for outsiders. I love and relate to outsiders. The thought of finding someone like that excites me.”
Can you sing? Got the voice of an angel? Well I certainly don’t but Elizabeth has been asking for singing lessons this week. I am pretty sure a five year old is something that has not been seen before but I am also sure that there is a very good reason for that. This will be one category that we can leave to someone else.
Food: Gizzi Erskine, leading pop up chef and food writer
“I want to see someone that has a serious passion for the industry – I want to understand their passion and be able to see and feel it. I want to show that you don’t have to be conventional to be successful. I’m looking for someone who’s happy to break the rules – and maybe teach me a thing or two along the way. The simple ideas can be the best. But a simple idea with a bit of glitter on it is far more exciting.”
I love cooking but I am absolutely rubbish at following a recipe and pretty much just make it up as I go along. I also can’t make anything look nice once I have served it up so this category is definitely not my strong point. However I know of some pretty fabulous food bloggers out there who would be amazing in this category.
Photography: Rankin, world famous portrait and fashion photographer
“I want to find someone that’s undiscovered. I’m looking for someone that’s got a vision, a creative eye who wants to make a career out of photography. I want to know what they do that’s different, that’s interesting and for them to show me an idea that is unique and has an original view of the world.”

A category that I would love to be talented enough to appear in but unfortunately that is just not the case. However I do know some amazing photographers on the blogging circuit and I would love to see one of those take part in this fabulous opportunity.
Do you think you have what it takes? It is really easy to enter and all the details are below.
HOW PEOPLE CAN GET INVOLVED
To apply you need to make a 2-minute video all about you and your ambition. This is your chance to show off your passion, your personality, and your project idea, to get the attention of our mentors. Then we just need an image and a bit of copy and you’re good to go. You can find out more and upload your submission at: LaunchingPeople.co.uk
Up For Grabs: Two opportunities for everyone:
1. The mentors will select four candidates with whom they’ll work one-to-one. The chosen protégés will spend 2-3 weeks together, working closely with their mentors in a house fully furnished with Samsung’s latest technology on their personal projects, building towards a grand launch event and making their ideas and ambitions a reality.
2. And the public will get to vote for one winner in each category to receive £500 for personal tuition and Samsung technology up to the value of £2000.
Good Luck and let me know if you enter as I would love to see your entry.
