Feeling like family at Butlins

After coming back from four fabulous days at Butlins I am still asked why we go so often. What is it that has us paying to go back time after time. We have been going to Butlins Bognor Regis for four years with multiple trips each year. We know the staff, the red coats and even the managers by name. What makes it even more special is that they know us by name too.

*Theme tune from Cheers*

Making your way in the world today takes everything you’ve got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn’t you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they’re always glad you came.

Seeing the Redcoats grow from being a newbie on the floor to taking part in the fabulous shows and recognising their potential is a fantastic thing to witness and this time of year is a sad time for those of us that know the schedule. At the end of each season we see some friendly faces go out into the world to pastures new, whether going to one of the other Butlins resorts or pursuing a dream career. We always wish these amazing people all the best whilst feeling sad to see them go and looking forward to meeting some new Redcoats in the new year. Butlins has some amazing activities and fabulous facilities but what makes us go back time and again is definitely the people.
When I look through my photos of our recent trip it really does make me realise how much the people mean more to us than anything else as nearly all of my photos were of the staff that make our time at Butlins so much fun.
We once again had a fantastic time and we can’t wait to go back in Easter where we look forward to seeing some new puppet castle and skyline shows, eating in the new American Diner and of course watching the Scooby Doo show which will be taking over from Sesame Street. So for now I say goodbye to Butlins for 2013 and wish all the Redcoats, Skyline gang and all the other Butlins staff a very merry Christmas.
