Fields in Trust Awards have been running for the last few years and this year there is a new category- UK’s best park, as voted by YOU!Do you have a favourite park that you think deserves this award? It is really simple to get involved but first, you need to nominate your favourite park before 4th November. Then from 5th November vote for your favourite park and get your friends and family to vote too.
It was easy for me to decide which park to nominate as we have a fabulous one near where I live in Manchester called Debdale Park. Below is what I submitted as my nomination.
Debdale park has a fabulous play area, Skate park, tennis courts, football pitch, pitch and putt, bowling green, visitors centre and community centre as well as two large reservoirs which are perfect for feeding the ducks. There is water sports centre too. It hosts events such as fireworks and funfairs
It was hard to write just 50 words about a park that is so brilliant for the community and that provides so much including a free fireworks display each year and a fabulous community centre. It also has well-maintained toilets close to the play area which is brilliant for families.What do you think makes a great family park? Lots of open space? Trees to climb? A decent play area? local wildlife?
