Disney on Ice – Fit to Dance!

Last week we had an amazing opportunity where we got to spend some time with two of the fabulous skaters from Disney on Ice to experience the amazing new experience called Fit to Dance.

To start our adventure we had to plan our story. We decided to go on an adventure under the sea and discussed the animals who live under the sea and what we would see when we were there.  We chose our characters and had a think about how they would move. We had a Mermaid, a dolphin, a shark and fish of various shapes and sizes.

After planning our story we had to come up with some dance moves that would represent the adventure we wanted to show. We dived into the ocean, had a good look around and got caught in a whirlpool before swimming to safety.
After practicing our moves we had to get into character with the use of props, costumes and face paint.
Once in our costumes we put on the show, weaving around the dance studio to the music as we displayed our story with just our bodies as they do on the ice. It was a really fun session and the kids really enjoyed getting into character and making up the story.
The Disney on Ice Fit to Dance programme has been developed to inspire families to have fun and be active through storytelling and dance. Using the Fit to Dance website for inspiration for stories, dance moves and creative aids as well as videos of some of the dancers from Disney on Ice it is a fun way of getting some exercise whilst also having loads of fun. Both of my girls and their friends who accompanied us had a wonderful time and they can not wait to create some more stories to dance too.
