Brilliant at Blogging? #Bibs2014

The brilliance in blogging (BiBs) nominations opened today and as I sat down to start my nominations I decided to write to you and ask you to consider me for a category or two. Last year I was lucky enough to be shortlisted in the Lifestyle category which was a huge surprise.

The MAD nominations have just finished and I didn’t really feel as though I fitted into any one category but with the BiBs I would like to ask for your consideration for two categories: Inspire and Family.

Obviously the family category fits really well for my blog as I am constantly writing about our adventures as a family, the ups and downs of life including Elizabeth’s diagnosis and treatment. I have written about our holidays, our days out and our adventures in home schooling. If it has happened to our family I have usually written about it.

The not so obvious category of Inspire is something that I have been prompted to ask for following comments made by other bloggers. Apparently I am an inspiration. I can’t really see it myself but if a few of you think so then maybe others do too. I spend a lot of time giving advice, helping bloggers with tax issues, helping them to work with PR companies and generally being a listening ear when they need it. I have also put a lot of time and effort into organising Blogs Up North which is a not for profit group that has meetups, helps PR companies contact local bloggers and runs an annual conference in the north which allows bloggers who are not comfortable with bigger events to still come along. Doing all these things are just a way of keeping me occupied, keeping my mind busy and stopping me dwelling on the things in life I can’t change. I am a firm believer of this quote.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
the courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Reinhold Niebuhr

I know of some amazingly inspirational bloggers and some fabulous family bloggers too so I don’t expect to win but if you think I am good enough to nominate then I would really appreciate it. After all spreading just that small amount of happiness really will be enough until next year.
